About Hearthwood Furniture
Hearthwood Furniture was founded in 1984 by Erik and Ingrid Lindberg in a converted barn in Shelburne, Vermont. What began as a two-person operation making custom tables for local restaurants has grown into one of America's most respected solid wood furniture makers, with a 60-person workshop and a 15,000 square foot showroom in Burlington.
Our Craft
Every Hearthwood piece is made by hand in our Vermont workshop. We use traditional joinery -- mortise-and-tenon, dovetail, and tongue-and-groove -- because these methods create furniture that's stronger and more durable than anything made with screws, nails, or glue alone. Our finishes are hand-rubbed oils and lacquers that protect the wood while allowing its natural beauty to shine.
Sustainability
We source 100% of our wood from sustainably managed forests and FSC-certified suppliers. Our workshop is solar-powered, and we repurpose every scrap of wood as heating fuel or donate it to local schools and makers. Furniture that lasts generations is the most sustainable choice of all.
